We are seeking an exceptional Communication Manager to oversee the external and internal communications for our client, a leading Education and Health Foundation in West Africa.

The post would suit a candidate with substantial experience in this sector who is passionate about working for an organisation which delivers long lasting positive change through a wide range of high quality Health and Education initiatives. These programmes focus on the needs of the most vulnerable and fragile members of the community, providing treatment and after care for women and children cancer patients; HIV education programmes; mobility and rehabilitation schemes for the disabled and education programmes for vulnerable young offenders.

The Head of Communication will drive the Foundations's communication strategy, in close consultation with the Foundation President and with colleagues in all departments of the Foundation; and will deliver an coherent, effective strategy around its key initiatives that includes marketing, content creation, website, social media, print, press, radio, TV, events, newsletters and internal communication.

The Person

  • Minimum Bac + 4/Master’s Degree with at least 5 years’ relevant professional experience including managing high impact, effective communications for a high profile organisation and ideally, initiatives for Africa
  • The ability to liaise and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders at local, regional, national and international level
  • Proven experience in effective team building and in internal communication
  • Experience of supporting communications around high profile events
  • A proficient user of IT software tools, including MS, DTP (PAO); databases and CMS
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
  • Versatile, adaptable, well-honed diplomatic skills, unflappable with 'can-do’ attitude
  • Collaborative and consultative leadership style; a team player able to work independently and remain calm when under pressure
